I cycled down to Port Douvot this morning in heavy frost and subzero temperatures, here is a summary of what was seen:
Little Grebe - at least 3, Port Douvot
Great Crested Grebe - 1 in half winter plumage Port Douvot
Mute Swan - 2 pairs, Port Douvot
Greylag - 1 domestic bird, Ile Malpas
Tufted Duck - 21 between Velotte and Port Douvot
Pochard - 1 female on the river at Beure
Goosander - good numbers, some already paired off away from the main groups
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER - a first-winter male at Port Douvot, and a new species for my patch list.

Sparrowhawk - 1 flew over
Buzzard - Only 1 seen
Coot - 31 between Velotte and Port Douvot
Moorhen - at least 2 but must have gone unnoticed
Woodpigeon - a flock of 15 flew over
Kingfisher - 2
Green Woodpecker - again on the cliffs under the Citadelle
Grey Wagtail - a few on unfrozen brooks leading into the river
Dunnock - 2 in allotments at Beure, a very difficult species to see and a new addition to my patch list.
Mistle Thrush - 1, Port Douvot
Fieldfare - 1, Beure
Robin - many more than usual
WALLCREEPER - 1 bird seen flying off the cliffs under the Citadelle, it or another spent a while feeding visible from the road later on.

Magpie - at least 28 together in trees behind the allotments, quite a sight!
Siskin - a lone female with a group of Long-tailed, Blue and Great Tits, Beure.
ROCK BUNTING - two in the allotments, quite unexpected as though they used to breed in this area, they haven't been observed in the area for a good while now. A new species for my patch list.
