Pygmy Cormorant: huge flocks in Western Europe

Posted in Unspecified

Huge flocks of Pygmy Cormorants are usual this winter around the Maistra branch of the Po river Delta, south of Venice in NE Italy. The origin of these birds is unknown, but probably they originate from eastern populations, maybe as far away as Ukraine. Photo of Roberto Sauli.
