The long-staying Pygmy Cormorant in Piedmont, NW ItalyThe first twitchable Pygmy Cormorant since 1856 (!) for NW Italy, at the Oasi La Madonnina of St.Albano Stura near Cuneo, Piedmont, is still present there; it has been seen on and off since it arrived on July 27 this year. The picture of Bruno Caula shows well it's an immature. The Pygmy Cormorant is regular as breeing and wintering bird along the NE Italian coastline, where an estimate of 2.000 to 3.000 indivuduals prepare to winter. 23:45 - Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - post comment
