Audouin's Gull at Bocca di Serchio, C Italy, December 19, 2005Audouin's Gull (Larus audouinii), with its red bill and black legs, nests on the small islands around Sardinia, in Puglia and Tuscany. This is a purely marine species and very fussy: it is very sensitive to pollution and feeds almost exclusively on fish. While Italy hosts about the 3% of the world population of Audouin's Gull, this species is quite uncommon along the shores of the mainland in winter. Lorenzo Pardini was able to photograph this adult at Bocca di Serchio, Tuscany, C Italy on December 19, 2005. 21:43 - Tuesday, December 20, 2005 - post comment
