More on the Parrotbills of the Palude Brabbia, NW ItalyFollowingt a thread on Birdforum, I posted a new photo fetaturing a Vinous-throated Parrotbill Paradoxornis webbianus and an Ashy-throated Parrotbill Paradoxornis alphonsianus, misnetted recently in the Palude Brabbia reserve and photographed by Chiara Scandolara. According to James Eaton, the two species overlap a large area, though they are often seperated by slight differences in habitat, the two can occur together, ie Ham Rong Botanical Gardens in West Tonkin. Vinous-throated is by far the commonest, occuring from Northern Vietnam high up along the east coast of China, spreading inland as far as Sichuan. Ashy-throated has two disjunct populations, south-east China/Northen Vietnam and West/Central China. 01:37 - Sunday, January 8, 2006 - post comment
