Great Black-backed Gull at Chioggia, NE Italy, on January 23, 2006An adult Great Black-backed Gull Larus marinus was present today at the refuse dump of Chioggia, S of Venice, NE Italy. There is an unprecedented number of Great Black-backed Gulls this winter in Italy, the southernmost being a returning one found by Antonio Antonucci in the harbour of Pescara, Adriatic sea, C Italy, on December 27, 2005. Another one was photographed by Eddi Boschetti near Porto Levante in the Po Delta on December 20, 2005.
