Black and White Storks wintering in NE ItalyA Black Stork walking behind a range of White Storks photographed by Enrico Fiorentini at the Bentivoglio reserve, near Bologna, NE Italy. The region around Bologna, not far from the Po Delta, recorded dozens of nests of White Storks last year. While a part of the birds are coming from a restocking project, there were cases of pairs of feral and free living birds. Some Black Storks stopped near groups of local White Storks while migrating south and some of the young White Storks migrated to Africa via C Italy and Sicily. Finally, a Black Stork decided to winter close to a group of feral White Storks.
