Bramblings in breeding plumage near Pavia, NW ItalyThe photo, courtesy of Luigi Andena, shows a Brambling Fringilla montifringilla in breeding plumage. The photo was taken on saturday February, 4, near Fortunago, Pavia, NW Italy. This year the numerous Bramblings wintering in the hills at the foot of the Apennines appear to be moulting early than usual, so presently birds in breeding plumage are not uncommon there.
