BIRDING IN LANZAROTE (CANARY ISLANDS)

Saturday, October 20, 2007 - SEPTEMBER 2007 LANZAROTE REPORT

by Francisco Javier García Vargas

On September 2007, the most interesting about rarities was a Little Swift that I saw at Arrecife on 04/IX (first for our personal list), but no photos could be taken (I did not bring the camera ).

The Grasshopper Warbler was relocated at Janubio salt pans on 17/IX.

About scarce migrants, 7 White Storks have remained at Arrecife into October, the Eurasian Oystercatcher have remained at Janubio salt pans into October too, Little Ringed Plover (1 bird at Los Cocoteros on 10/IX), Red Knot (birds at Janubio and Arrecife), Ruff (3 birds at Janubio on 03/IX), Eurasian Curlew (1 bird at Janubio on 25/IX), Green Sandpiper (1 bird at Arrecife on 07/IX), European Bee-eater (1 bird at Uga on 03/IX), Sand Martin (birds at El Cable on 24/IX) and Tree Pipit (1 bird at Arrecife on 23/IX).
