The first winter franklin's gull was seen again at Rosscarbery this morning, in fields near the estuary despite bad weather. The bird was seen again back on the estuary this afternoon, showing well. |

Heard that the Franklin's is still present today, as was the Lough Laugher (not seen either meself today). Got decent views of the Franklin's yesterday (really good flight views at one point), as well as the Ring Laugher.

Yes that franky was a gem yesterday!
I had the lough HaHa this morning, same bat time, same bat channel.
Sitting on the slipway by the hawthorn pub.
Its getting more and more advanced (alot more grey coverts etc).
I went back up there after lunch and as i was nearing the hawthorn i picked it up in flight quite high up over the pub.
This was a really interesting view as it was extremely similar to the view i had in january over UCC( There is something almost bat/flying fox like about the first years in flight...mad sounding i know). i am now 99% certain its the same bird.
Had the bird scrabbling around my feet, fighting with a first winter med for some bread...the Med won.
