April 12, 2006 - Finally a Franklins

Posted by Ed
With no news all week I made the move again to see an Irish Franklins,I arrived in Clon at about 0620 after an uneventful drive from Tralee.I scoured the area and Ring but could not relocate it and even the Laughing Gull was absent. At 0730 I eventually found it roosting with B h gulls at Ross, superb, giving good views. The bird showed all the features of a 1st yr,brown covs, partial hood, incomplete tail band, dark mantle, white underparts, wonderful eye cresents and small compact size.A lifer.........and much appreciated.............Ed.
