Galley Head Birding

<%PhotoInfo%>

June 4, 2007 - bank holiday baskers

Three basking sharks were loafing about off Galley this evening, with good numbers of manx shearwaters around. Not much else doing in flat calm conditions but 1 storm petrel was new for the year (95), and a puffin flew west too.

A Collared Pratincole isn't a White-tailed Plover either...for a start, it's not even in the same genus...but that doesn't invalidate it as a bird!
Nice one on 3 Basking Sharks, Col: never had that many in a day.

I'd far rather have 3 baskers than a distant plover from a hide full of loud birders.
