Unusual geese and swans in the Cotswold Water Park; now is a good time to look!

Some of you may be amused to see images in today’s Swindon Advertiser of various locations in CWP in extensive flood. You may be more amused to note that one of the geese photographed “near Ashton Keynes” is a White Fronted Goose! Looks like it is on the flooded field adjacent to Lake 83 and Waterhay Car Park!!!!

With so many areas in the area currently under water, now would be a good time to go looking for Bewicks and Whooper Swans, White Fronted Geese or maybe something even more unusual! The fields around Waterhay traditionally attract something of interest as do the fields at Inglesham, to the south of Lechlade.

We would love to know if you find anything interesting, or to receive any good counts of large flocks of birds such as gulls, waders and geese!

Happy Birding!   Gareth Harris

(Thanks to Nick Adams for flagging up the article in the Advertiser and supplying information in this article.)
