Is it possible to say which sex this escape is and any chance of mating with mute swans?

Felicity. BWP does state that mixed pairs of Black Swan with Mute Swan occur from 'time to time'. I suspect the chances are very slight. In captive collections you often see black swan with young at this time of year. They do breed out of synch with our swans and its almost as though they havent forgotten the time of year in Australia.
