Sighting Requested
Horcott, near Fairford: On 24 June a male Tufted Duck with a nasal tag was sighted by Richard Hearn, WWT Slimbridge.
This bird was originally captured and marked at Sao Jacinto Dunes Nature Reserve, in northern Portugal (1332km from the CWP) on 20 November 2005.
The bird was also seen in that area between 12 December 2005 and 12 February 2006 but it didn’t return during the winter of 2006/2007. This latest sighting is the first time that this bird has been seen overseas.
There is an excellent chance that this bird will be seen again. If you find it please let me know either through this website or by emailing me. Many thanks- Gareth Harris, Biodiversity Officer, Cotswold Water Park Society.
