Is it significant that of GWEs seen in Wilts over past few years that 3/4 have come from same place....ringed in Lac de Grand Lieu (Loire Atlantic, France....1999, 2002 and now 2007) ....see Bird Guides ?

I am not sure I can answer your query. Searching Bird Guides does bring up at least one bird in 2004 in Suffolk ringed at 'Loire'. The Euro colour ringing website shows GWE are ringed in Germany, Croatia and Serbia with only the one ringing site in France. I suspect the link is that most GWE in this country come from that 'Loire' population.
