Bowmoor Complex: Wildfowl count - Little Grebe 14, G.C.Grebe 60, Cormorant 15, Little Egret 6, Grey Heron 4, Mute Swan 36, Greylag 132, Canada 36, Wigeon 10, Mallard 64, Red-crested Pochard 19, Pochard 242, Tufted Duck 739, Coot 874, plus circa 1,000 Black-headed Gulls. Phil Deacon
The Tufted Duck count is by far the highest count ever at Bowmoor and shows a recent increasing trend in numbers of September/October birds which move on elswhere during the winter leaving an average wintering population of 200 at Bowmoor.
