Habitat Creation Works on Cleveland Lakes (CWP 74/68a) and Bird Hide relocation
As some of you may have noticed, landforming works have begun again on Cleveland Lakes, specifically on the spit between CWP 74 and 68a. By the end of the winter the team will have created a large reed bed and other wetland habitats such as scrapes, as well as putting in new footpaths and 2 new bird hides. The site will be opened to the public at the end of the winter.

In the meantime, please be aware that the bird hide on CWP 68a (not the raised hide on 68c/Waterhay!!) will be closed whilst it is relocated to a better location on CWP 74. This is for public health and safety reasons as contractors will be working on site during this period. This closure will be in place from the 26th November until the end of March 2008. Please bear with us whilst we carry out these works, it'll be worth it, I promise!

The second hide will be placed to overlook the newly created reed bed; designed by artist Helen Shackleton, this will be a reed- and reedbed-themed bird hide, also incorporating features for roosting bats and nesting birds.

If you have any further queries, please let me know.
