Ashton Keynes: Garden sighting 1 male Blackcap (been present all winter) & 2 pairs of Reed Bunting feeding on seed under feeders. Mark Brooks
Martin Adlam and Dawn Young did their usual weekend walk around CWP 6, 9, 10, 11, 67, 71 and 86 revealed 38 bird species and their first Frog Spawn of the year. The highlights include: Great Crested Grebe; Little Grebe – a single bird on the pool between pit 67 & 71; Cormorant – 12 on island in pit 9; Mute Swan; Wigeon; Gadwall – 2 drake and a duck on pit 67; Lesser Black-Backed Gull; Green Woodpecker; Pied Wagtail; Grey Wagtail; Goldcrest – a pair in the hedgerow just south of Pit 6; Chiffchaff – single bird in the hedgerow just south of Pit 6; Fieldfare – 30+ in field south of Churn Pool; Redwing - 20+ in field south of Churn Pool; Song Thrush; Mistle Thrush; Long-Tailed Tit; Goldfinch; Greenfinch; Reed Bunting; Also seen: 1 Roe Deer in the SW corner of Pit 86; - Frog Spawn in stream between pit 10 & 67; Bumble Bee in bank just north of pit 9.
