The Cotswold Water Park

The Cotswold Water Park (CWP) lies in 40 square miles of farmland and wetland between Cirencester, Swindon and Lechlade. To date 145 lakes have been flooded (April 2006) and this is set to increase over 50 years, creating other wetland habitats. CWP holds nationally important numbers of wintering waterbird, e.g. Smew, Great Crested Grebe, Gadwall, Coot and Pochard. In Spring and Summer visitors can hear Nightingales or see flocks of Hobby’s migrating through.

CWP 59: 4 Black headed Gulls, 4 Mute Swans, Red Headed Pochard with 2 ducklings, Great Crested Grebe. John Rock

CWP 68c hide: Pair of Mallard with one duckling, Mallard with 6 ducklings, Grey Heron Yellow wing tag DZ and red leg band fishing, caught 4 fish whilst watching, Moorhen, Shelduck, Reed Bunting, 2 male 1 female Gadwall, 10 Greylag Geese flew over, nice formation once they got it sorted out., pair of Teal, Banded Demoiselle John Rock
