Phase 2 Habitat Creation & restoration works, Cleveland Lakes: Commencing Monday 29th September

Please note that habitat creation and restoration works will be commencing at Cleveland Lakes on Monday 29th September, including works upon the scrapes viewable from "Twitchers gate". Works will entail the movement of spoil to create the basic landforms. These works will be undertaken by contractors employed by Aggregate Industries, working in partnership with Cotswold Water Park Society staff to ensure our designs are achieved.

These works will include removal of scrub along the main spit (between Lakes 74 and 68a), complete removal of the spit between Lakes 68a and 68b and basic construction of the new scrapes. Much of this work will be visible from Twitchers Gate and from the permissive paths and hides around Lake 68a and Lake 74.

The works will last approximately 12 weeks and once complete will allow the Cotswold Water Park Society to complete detailed landscaping at a future date, funding permitted. The Society is awaiting news on funding applications submitted in recent weeks; if successful, this funding will enable the Cotswold Water Park Society to undertake further landscaping works on this site including the finer scale habitat features as well as new permissive footpaths and other reserve infrastructure.

Please note that heavy machinery will be operating in the restoration area, for your own safety please keep to the designated paths at all times.

If you have any queries, please let me know.
Gareth Harris, Biodiversity Officer, Cotswold Water Park Society
