On Tuesday I flew out to Carcass Island with Trish & Lucianne to catch a boat over to West Point to board the Corinthian II as the local guide.
We had about 5 hours on Carcass so set off to look for the 3 White Crested Elaenias that have been around since November last year, with 1 of the birds having been present for 18 months.
After a couple of hours I got a very brief view of a White Crested Elaenia at the back of a small bush, as I was moving around the other side to get better views, I flushed a very small bird that I suspected was a Grassland Yellow Finch, having found the first Falkland record two days previous.
After a few minutes, I got brief views of it in some long grass before it moved into the bush with the White Crested Elaenia, where I got long views to confirm its identity.

This is the second record of Grassland Yellow Finch for the Falkland Islands, 2 days and 110 miles away from the first record!!!! |

It's interesting to hear your story. When we were two days out from Buenos Aires to Stanley in January on the Spirit of Adventure, I found a Grassland Sparrow on the deck. Wonder if that made it to the Falklands?
