Got a call this morning from Sue Morrison to say that a couple of doves had been seen yesterday in a potato field near the floating dock.
I went down and after a few minutes saw a Violet-eared Dove flying across the field, it landed in a small conifer tree at the edge of the field. After about 10 minutes it flew back down into the field along with the second bird.
I then watched both birds feeding along with Long Tailed Meadow Lark, Black Chinned Siskin, House Sparrow & Falkland Thrush. I was soon joined by Mike & Sue Morrison.
I suspect that they are an adult and a juvenile bird.
