I had a call from Sue Morrison while I was on my way home from work to say that a Weddell Seal Leptonychotes weddellii  had been reported near the floating dock at the other end of Stanley.

I got home, grabbed my camera, and headed down to have a look, the Weddell Seal was hauled up on the rocky beach.

This is my first sighting of a Weddell Seal which are very rare vagrants to the Falkland Islands
