Today I went out to Bertha’s Beach with my family for a look around the ponds and have a walk along the beach. When we got to the car park there was a pair of Southern Caracara on the grass.

On the main pond there were Black Necked Swan, Speckled Teal, Yellow Billed Pintail, Chiloe Wigeon & White Tufted Grebe. At the edge of the pond there was a pair of Rufous Chested Dotterel in amongst the Two Banded Plovers. Also in amongst the Diddle Dee we saw White Bridled Finch, Falkland Pipit, Dark Faced Ground Tyrant & Long Tailed Meadowlark

Down at the beach we saw a small pod of Commerson’s Dolphins just offshore. On the beach there was Magellanic & Blackish Oystercatcher, Snowy Sheathbill, lots of Dolphin Gulls & Kelp Gulls with a single Brown Hooded Gull in amongst them.

In the brackish pond at the back of the beach we saw Speckled Teal, Crested Ducks and large numbers of Rudy Headed Geese & Upland Geese.
