Falkland Steamer Duck Tachyeres brachypterus is one of two endemic bird species that we get in the Falkland Islands, they are widespread and common around most coastlines of the Falklands.

As you can see on the above two pictures of the male & female their wings are very short,and do not extend beyond the leg, also the back of the bird is visible in between the wings

Also in the Falkland Islands we get Flying Steamer Duck Tachyeres patachonicus which is much less widespread than Falkland Steamer Duck.
It is mainly found in large bodys of fresh water during the summer months but can be seen along coast lines with Falkland Steamer Ducks during the winter.

You can see on the above shot of male & female Flying Steamer Duck that they have much longer wings that extend beyond the leg and the wing tips meet and cross at the tips

Note the longer and slender concave bills of the Flying Steamer Duck compared to the above head shots of Falkland Steamer Duck also the females bill is two toned with orange above and greenish/blue below.
