Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 2 Species of Grebes

Went to Gypsy Cove this evening to see if any Magellanic Penguins had returned, no sign of any penguins but on the beach there was about 300+ Kelp Gulls feeding in the surf amongst the Kelp Gulls were 3 Brown Hooded Gulls in full summer plumage. 2 pairs of Patagonian Crested Ducks and a pair of Speckled Teal.

On the pond at the back of Surf Bay were a pair of Flying Steamer Ducks,  a pair of Silvery Grebe and a single White tufted Grebe along with Kelp, Upland and Ruddy-headed Geese.
