Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - Two Banded Plover and more Baird's Sandpipers

Out birding around Stanley Airport area this evening, Lots of Two Banded Plovers including at least 15 young birds from this year.

                                  

 

Also saw lots of White Rumped Sandpipers and Rufous Chested Dotterels including two fully grown young Dotterels from this year.

 

Best birds of the evening were a small flock of 5 very flighty Baird’s Sandpipers.

 

Other birds seen this evening included Red Backed Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Ruddy Headed, Kelp & Upland Geese, Black Throated Finch, Falkland Pipit, Dark Faced Ground Tyrants, Long Tailed Meadowlark & Magellanic Snipe.
