Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Saturday, May 17, 2008 - Wrong Place Wrong Time!!!!

Went out birding this morning at Gypsy Cove for a couple of hours before I had to go to work. .

Lots of birds around including Grass Wren, Long Tailed Meadowlark, Black Throated Finch, Falkland Pipit, Falkland Thrush & a large flock of 20+ Black Chinned Siskin.

Offshore could see lots of King Cormorants and Rock Shag on the sea as well as a single Magellanic Penguin.

At Yorke Bay pond there were the pair of White Tufted Grebe and 3 Silver Teal.

As I was traveling out of town to Mount Pleasant airport I got a call from my wife to say that a Great White Egret had been seen 2 minutes drive from my house, unfortunately I did not get back to Stanley in daylight so hope to connect tomorrow.
