Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Sunday, June 15, 2008 - Chiloe Wigeon

Out birding around the local sites this morning, At Gypsy Cove it was very quiet with only a female Black Throated Finch, 2 Dark Faced Ground Tyrants, a pair of Long Tailed Meadowlarks and 3 each of Falkland Thrush & Black Chinned Siskin.

At Yorke Bay pond there were 4 Chiloe Wigeon, 5 Silver Teal, 5 Speckled Teal, 2 White Tufted Grebe, Ruddy Headed Geese & large numbers of Upland Geese.

                                

     

Other birds of note seen included 2 Red Backed Hawks, Southern Caracara & lots of Antarctic Fulmars of Hookers Point.
