Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Sunday, June 15, 2008 - Dolphin Gull

Went out to Cape Pembroke Lighthouse this afternoon for a look around, lots of birds at the point including 20+ Long Tailed Meadowlarks, 4 Dark Faced Ground Tyrants, 4 Falkland Thrush, 3 Grass Wrens, 2 Black Chinned Siskins & a single Falkland Pipit.

 

Out at Sea there were King Cormorant, Rock Shag & a lone Black Browed Albatross.

 

On the beach on the South side there were lots of birds feeding on the rotten kelp these included Dolphin & Kelp Gulls, Magellanic Oystercatcher, 32 Rufous Chested Dotterel, 6 Snowy Sheathbills, Patagonian Crested Duck, Speckled Teal, Tussacbird & Dark Faced Ground Tyrant.
