Birding in the Falkland Islands

• Sunday, September 28, 2008 - Lesser Yellowlegs

Got a call this afternoon from local birder Sue Morrison to say that she and her husband had just found two Lesser Yellowlegs at Bertha’s Beach.

A few phone calls to get cover for my on call and me and Micky Reeves were on our way ou to Bertha's Beach.

When we got out there the two Lesser Yellowlegs were feeding in a shallow pool.

Lesser Yellowlegs are rare vagrants to the Falkland Islands, these two birds are the 2nd & 3rd records this Spring making it the best ever year for Lesser Yellowlegs in the Islands.
