A days birding and where to go Spurn Point? or Filey? I decided on Filey Country Park and hopefully to bag the bird of the day Yellow Browed Warbler which had been reported all over the East Coast. So I was off 5:30am no Owls on route to the coast. Arriving at 7:30am it was coffee time first whilst getting set up. Setting off on to the ravine at 8am the first bird I encounterd was a Yellow Browed Warbler in the first tree I came across what a great start . Moving on I came across numerous Chaffinch, Blackbirds, Goldfinch,Greenfinch and Goldcrests and a couple of Chiffchaffs. I came to the steps and decided to walk along the beach to the brigg and do a bit of seawatching. I could see from my advantage point a few dog walkers along the tide mark but along I went. I set up scope and found Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Redshank, Turnstone, Curlew, Great Black Backed Gulls, Herring Gull and Black Headed Gulls. I ventured on to the brigg adding Rock Pipits and alot at that, Shag and Eider in the bay Gannets to numerous to mention were flying it seemed everywhere. I got round to the hide and out of the wind to find more Redshank and two Knots. Red Breasted Merganser flew past going north and then another bird I was looking out for today two Red Throated Divers flew past heading south . More Rock Pipits Teal and Mallards flying past. Futher out along the Brigg I came across more Turnstone and Purple sandpipers about six in all and alone Goldcrest. Out into the bay another Red Throated Diver was seen. A few Brent Geese about four in all came in off the sea. No Skuas past another bird I was looking out for today . Anyway back up to the Country park and onto the Totem field hopefully to find the reported Buntings from the previous day. All of a sudden the day decided to go quiet there was a good movement of Skylarks and the reported Bramblings flying through one bird you had to know the call of which I didn't so I missed it. I did find alone House Martin at the gare. That was the day time had gone I headed home. Arriving home I looked at the Birdguides website, one thing you shouldn't do. Reported was a Red Breasted Flycatcher at the church ravine. Bempton Little Bunting, Spurn Little and Rustic Buntings. Hers's to next time a good days birding was had no matter what turned up and where and whatever I missed. What of the LAUGHING GULL still in the Wakefield area with me keeping an eye on it's movement's. Year List to date 172
