Brookie's Diary

• Friday, January 5, 2007 - Blackmoorfoot Res

A trip out today to try and find the reported Black Necked Grebe. On arrival at the reservoir I did a quick scan of the place it was last reported only to find Mallards, a male Goldeneye, Common and Black Headed Gulls. I had a walk down towards the dam wall and saw Blue and Great Tits in the trees along with Robins, Blackbirds and Chaffinch. Near the dam wall I had found nothing different except a few hundered Lapwings making their way over the water. I looked back towards the hide and had another scan thru the ducks and there it was one Black necked Grebe in winter plumage. I made my way back towards the hide and enjoyed the bird for an hour before making my way back home
