Brookie's Diary

• Saturday, March 31, 2007 - Pugneys Country Park

A couple of hours to spare so quick stroll around Pugneys Park with a stop at the bird hide, Ruddy Duck, Tufted Duck, Mallards, Shelduck, Coot, Moorhen, Greylag goose, Canada goose, Cormorants, Teal, Black Headed Gulls, one Common Gull, and a Female Goldeneye. It was whilst we were in the hide that we heard and saw a Bittern, difficult to see in amongst the reeds but we saw him, and heard him boom a couple of times. Walking back passed the small wood Chiffchaff was heard, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Wren and Crows also. No Sand Martin as yet but a great bonus in seeing the Bittern.
