| A weeks holiday in Dorset to see family but we did have a day out at Lodmoor RSPB reserve. Always been to the Radipole Lake reserve nr Weymouth and thought a day at Lodmoor would make a change. We walked from the car park area seeing Kingfishers along one of the canals. We the went around the top end of the reserve first, nr the main road. Catching views of Little Egret, Wheatears, Black Tailed Godwits, Redshank and Common Terns. A quick chat with one of the locals put us onto a few more waders nr the bottom end of the reserve so off we went. It was here that we saw Spoonbill (3) Common Sandpiper, Little Stint, Wood Sandpiper and Dunlin. Overhead Swallows and House Martins getting ready for their long journey south. If you are in the area well worth a look round anytime of year along with Radipole will make a good day out. Check the Dorset Bird Club home page if your in the area |
