Another morning. The Buzzard was circling above the hill. The Kites attacked him again. Later, two Black Kites fought each other in mid-air. This attracted several Kites to come and watch. During the fight, Tai, our female Kite, sat in the nest and brooded.

At noon, Tai stood at the edge of the nest. She ploughed through the materials in the nest with her beak, then she sat down and turned around. The male Kite, Zen, flew around the hill and chased the other kites away. He then landed on the branch above the nest and made a series of loud calls.

Zen calling from tree top
After a while, Tai searched inside the nest again. She then got up, walked to the edge of the nest, and stood beside Zen. They touched each other’s beaks, rubbed their necks together and peeked into the nest together.

In the evening, Tai brought a piece of meat to the nest, tore bits from it, and dropped them inside. During the night, one of the kites stayed in the nest. The other bird came back in the next morning.
