Tai caught a rat and took it up a tree. Zen followed her and perched on the same tree.

Tai ate the rat's head first.

After a few minutes, Tai flew to another shrub where she often had her meals. She made several calls while she continued to eat the rat.

Zen stood by her for a long time. He flew away several times:
‧ First, he circled above the shrub, and then flew back to her.
‧ Next, he went back to the nest, and then flew back again.
‧ He then grabbed a tree branch, put it next to Tai, and then flew away.
‧ Afterwards, he chased the White-throated Kingfishers on the hill.
‧ A while later, he landed under a big tree and preened his feathers.
‧ After preening, he soared in the sky with several other Black Kites, and chased the Kites that flew close to the hill.

Tai ate for a whole hour. She used her beak to clean her talons after eating.

After a while, Zen came back and hastily gobbled the remainder of the rat.

When they ripped the rat’s skin apart, it looked like pulling rubber bands.

Tai stayed with Zen while he ate, and then flew away. Zen followed her soon after.
