Birding on the west coast of Sweden

Thursday, May 17, 2007 - Rain is a bastard

Was prepared to go to Öxnäs today. Even managed to get up early. To be greeted by heavy clouds and very persistent rain. Bugger. I can tolerate a bit of rain of course, but the reduced visibility is no fun and my poor spotting scope is only 'shower proof'.

Went to the city park with my girlfriend. The penguins there just got a new pool and seemed quite satisfied. The old pool does indeed look silly in comparison.

As we strolled along, a redstart sang somewhere in the nearby trees. As we went past the seal pond, a moorhen darted into the underbrush. Park birding can be nice too I guess. And penguins and pelicans are birds too, even in captivity.

About Me

26 year old birder from Gothenburg, Sweden. My goal for 2007 was get above 200 life-ticks. I managed 215 and the goal for 2008 was to get to 250. Right now it looks like I might get to 250 year ticks which is of course even better.
