Birding on the west coast of Sweden

Sunday, May 27, 2007 - No Little Stint, but nice walk on the home spot.

Posted in Local watching
Got up at ten. Checked the reports, but no Calidris-waders in Torslandaviken at all. Took a walk around the field near my home with Adam. Mostly Starlings, Jackdaws and Blackbirds. Turned home again, but saw interesting movement in a stack of twigs and branches. Male Red-backed Shrike! New species for the location! It soon retreated since tits and whitethroats were now pretty upset and aggressive. On the way home we saw a pair of Marsh Warblers (the male sang) and heard another two. A Raven swooped past, followed by Crows. An Oystercatcher was foraging in one of the football fields. A Chiffchaff sang a couple of bars. The rain stopped. Nice walk after all!

If we're counting correctly, Adam and I now both have 173 life ticks. :)

About Me

26 year old birder from Gothenburg, Sweden. My goal for 2007 was get above 200 life-ticks. I managed 215 and the goal for 2008 was to get to 250. Right now it looks like I might get to 250 year ticks which is of course even better.
