Birding on the west coast of Sweden

Sunday, June 17, 2007 - Iberian but no Greenish

Posted in Rarities
Ticked the Iberian Chiffchaff today. The most rare bird I've ticked so far. We decided not to go for the Greenish Warbler since it hadn't been reported in over 24 hours. So we went to see Egyptian Goose instead. There were three of them. Another life tick of considerable dignity even though they are feral zoo birds.Third life tick for the day was the quite common Ruff, which had so far totally evaded my every attempt :)

We also had nice observations of Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Golden Plover, Little Tern, Spotted Redshank, Wheatears, Linnets and Pied Avocets to mention a few.

One of the Egyptian Geese

An unusually bad picture of the Iberian Chiffchaff taken through binoculars as usual.
It can also be seen as a small perching blob in the latter part of the clip above.

Thank you!

The funny thing about the mic is that I'm only using my digital compact camera. The condition with mister Iberian were ideal however. Practically no wind, very few other birds in the near vicinity and him sitting three-four meters right above me in the tree.

Nice specialized blog you have made for yourself! Good to see you're keeping yourself entertained. =)

My own recent bird spottings:

While taking the train home from work, I can see a lake that usually hosts a larger number of cranes ('hak' in Korean).

Also, just spotted a sparrow-like bird with a blazingly crimson chest from the window. Quite impressive colors!

Hej hopp,

The sparrow like bird with red chest could be a Linnet

Nah, this bird was crimson on a much larger part of its body. Hard to tell from that photo, though.

Sure I'll drop you a line. I always make sure to stay on topic and in the right language, however awkward it may be. =)
