Birding on the west coast of Sweden

Monday, June 25, 2007 - back from the wild

Have been away from everything that resembles computers for several days... The pain! :)

On thursday, not a lot of birding was done, since the weather situation at work was very boring. Found nesting Pied Wagtails going in under the roof and a poor dead Grey Wagtail that had crashed into a window, probably early in the morning. What it did in a school yard a good distance from running water I don't know.Dead Grey Wagtail

After work thursday evening we went to my parents' summer house about an hour north by car. Had some life-ticks there before (Goldcrest and Mistle Thrush for example) and had my mind set on Quail and/or Nightjar. With the amount of rain we had throughout the weekend I decided to settle for Crested Tit, but had no time to go look for it in the end. Nice observations of Woodcock, Jay, Hawfinch and four Great Spotted Woodpeckers in a group.

After coming home today I spent some time trying to take pictures of Swift and Housemartin with my digital camera, without any success whatsoever :)

About Me

26 year old birder from Gothenburg, Sweden. My goal for 2007 was get above 200 life-ticks. I managed 215 and the goal for 2008 was to get to 250. Right now it looks like I might get to 250 year ticks which is of course even better.
