Birding on the west coast of Sweden

Monday, October 15, 2007 - nice photo encounter, common crossbills and an UFB (unidentified flying buzzard)

Posted in Local watching
Saturday's migration watching was very nice if cold. No new life ticks but nice observation of foraging Goldcrests, 11 Common Crossbills stopping by for a snack and a seriously photogenic Crested Tit. In better light, the pictures would have been absolutely stunning since i was wielding a DSLR with 300 mm lens and the bird was sometimes closer to me than 6 feet.

Crested tit (Lophophanes cristatus)

Later we went to Brudarebacken with raptors in mind, but there were not very many. The thrill of the day was a buzzard that might have been a Rough-legged, but the distance was too great to be certain.

About Me

26 year old birder from Gothenburg, Sweden. My goal for 2007 was get above 200 life-ticks. I managed 215 and the goal for 2008 was to get to 250. Right now it looks like I might get to 250 year ticks which is of course even better.
