Thanks.. I haven't done so yet, although I have the means of coupling the 500d + 18-55mm lens onto my Nikon ED82 scope.
I'll give it a try at some point, but I suspect camera shake could be a real problem. The Robin was only 10 metres away, but even on the tripod, I needed the lens image stabiliser to keep it steady.
