Do Swifts sleep on the wing ?

For years we have been expected to believe that Swifts do nearly everything on the wing including sleeping. Can this really be true ? I cite the case of the Nottingham Little Swift which spent the night and the 1st 3hrs of daylight clinging to a bridge. Or is it just Common Swifts.
