Goshawk

Posted in Unspecified

March is still being pretty quiet around here. There should be lots of Finches and Buntings passing through feeding on all the newly exposed snowless patches of land dotted about town. In previous years I've seen Brambling, Common Crossbill, Bullfinch, Siskin, Rustic and Yellow Throated Buntings. All these species are conspicious by their absence. Lots of Dusky Thrush, Oriental Greenfinch and Hawfinch over the last few days though. There was a lone Bohemian Waxwing in the small park near my flat a couple of days ago. Best bird on this Sunday was a male Goshawk which was flying around with a female Peregrine. Both Glaucous and Glaucous Winged Gulls were about in various locations around the city. A quick look on the sea revealed lots of Red Necked Grebes offshore-always a common bird in the latter half of March. Not much else however. Snowing again tonight. At least Liverpool have just won. Stayed up last night watching live sport but drank too much and woke up on the couch in the wee small hours. This is becoming an almost weekly occurence I'm sorry to say...............
