Hakodate Birding

Hen Harrier and some other stuff

Posted in Unspecified

Spent the afternoon out in Shikabe and Onuma. In 1 fishing harbour we found this Black Necked Grebe, a Red Necked Grebe, the male Black Scoter below, 2 Harlequin Duck, lots of Scaup and a female Hen Harrier which was a personal first for Hokkaido. Groups of Swans were migrating offshore. Bewicks?Whoopers? Dunno.

Onuma produced the usual common woodland stuff with Brambling and Japanese Green Pigeon being the most interesting.

Some of the many Scaup around today. Music recommendation of the day-an Ian Brown song called "kiss ya ID" or something. Strange days at the moment. I'd prefer Man U to win the Premiership to Chelsea. First ice cream (or "soft cream as it's called here) of the year today-wine flavoured. Having problems with the blog............just retouched some photos but now my entries are out of sync..............
