Black Winged Stilt

Posted in Unspecified

These 2 Black Winged Stilts were a nice surprise at Kamiso this afternoon. Must have arrived today with the milder weather (the 2 days before were freezing and it was even snowing on Wednesday). Waders are generally pretty thin on the ground around here but these are apparently fairly regular. Not many other new things around. Most of the winter stuff is still here.........a few Brent Goose, a lone Whooper Swan, Glaucous and Glaucous Winged Gull, the dozen or so species of Duck and Dusky Thrush. Asian House Martin and Common Stonechat are the only conspicious summer visitors so far (although I haven't been looking so hard). Footie season coming to an end. Glad I'm not from the West Midlands. Actually met a real live Chelsea fan in a bar last Saturday night.
