Hakodate Birding

Pharalopes gone

Posted in Unspecified
Went to the coast again today to check if the Pharalopes were still there. They weren't. Didn't stick around long this year. Not much around at all actually. Best bird of the day was a northbound Oriental Honey Buzzard. A Red Throated Diver was on the sea at Menagawa. On returning to Hakodate I was dismayed to see construction work on the river in Yunokawa. The usual. Clearing trees and bushes to build an unnecessary building that will be a derelict eyesore in 10 years.

Downstream had a very brief scan around and there were about 10 Oriental Great Reed Warblers singing and a Grey Tailed Tattler..........hopefully the construction work won't  have too much impact on the birds. But I'm not holding my breath.

This will be my last update on this blog for a week or so as I'm going on a 5 day roadtrip to East Hokkaido on Sunday.

Bad luck Arsenal but please stop whining about  the ref. And Thierry: if you'd taken one of those 2 easy chances there'd be nothing to whine about.
