Hakodate Birding

Winter birds returning

Posted in Unspecified

A slightly bedraggled Black Throated Diver just before sunset at Kamiso this afternoon. The seasons are changing and Autumn is nearing its end as various winter vistors come to Hakodate. The above Diver is the most interesting and there have also been Daurian Redstart, Hawfinch, Glaucous Winged Gull and steadily increasing numbers of the commoner Ducks includng Scaup.

This is the third time I've seen a Black Throated Diver on this river this year and I guess it must be the same individual. Had a stroll up into the hills and got a Red Flanked Bluetail in the morning.

Haven't been birding much recently so here are a few pics of around Hakodate that I visted with my folks last week.

Better results for Liverpool. Enjoyed the Chelsea game (the Liverpool game not being shown in Japan).
